Riis Griffen is a self-taught mixed media artist who has sold her artwork to buyers across the United States, as well as in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Creativity has always been an important part of her life and she began seriously pursuing art in 2007.

Originally from Sonoma, California, Riis has lived in the Portland area since 1991. She has volunteered for Portland Open Studios and taught art to children through Hillsboro’s Bienestar. She is a member of The Village Gallery of Arts, where she served for two years as president of the board of directors. Riis organized Affordable Art for Everyone from 2015 through 2017. She is also the organizer of Westside ArtShare, a group of women artists.
