On the Cover!

My “Spirit Animal” painting is on the cover of the Washington County Arts Guide! What a nice surprise! I’m honored that they liked it enough to feature it that way.

February Joy

Three of my paintings are at Portland’s Village Gallery of Arts for their joy-themed show this month. This is a wonderful cooperative gallery that’s been completely volunteer-run for 50 years! I became a member last year and I’m enjoying getting involved and getting to know some of the other artists.

The Love of Portland

I’m pleased to be asked to participate in the 3rd annual Love of Portland show at People’s Art. The theme is pretty self-explanatory: all the things we love about Portland. The opening is February 15. People’s Art is a great space run by great people and Portland is lucky to have them. Hey–maybe that should be the theme of my painting!

November at the Goodfoot

Three of my paintings will be at the Goodfoot for the I Am Therefore I Think show, which is “an annual showcase of social commentary, from political to personal.” Opening night is Halloween, with a costume party, and the art will be up through November.

Big 400

I’ve been invited to participate in the Big 400 show at People’s Art. This is an exciting show with hundreds of local artists contributing work on 8×8 inch wood panels. The opening in December is a big event with people lining up outside to get their first choice of art. Last year there was even a bagpiper! A good portion of the proceeds goes to the Oregon Food Bank.

Art group

Things have been picking up for the Green Cab group. There are about twelve of us, all painters from the greater Portland area. It’s been fun to get to know everyone and to see our work hanging together. For more info about the various artists involved, check out our website. We also have a new community page on Facebook.

New Seasons

I just got back from hanging a show at the cafe in the Cedar Hills New Seasons with my Green Cab buddies. This location is bustling and the food at the cafe looks delicious–probably why the place was so busy on a weekday afternoon. The paintings will be up until the end of October.

Summa

My friends from the Green Cab group and I have a show opening tomorrow at Summa Real Estate in Hillsboro. This is a nice space with a lively owner who’s a friend to the local arts scene. I’ve heard that Summa throws a good party with food and live music. Sequoia Gallery is around the corner and they’re having their October show opening the same night, so come on out and make it an evening of art!

I’m an Oddity

“Oddities” opens at Lane Gallery tomorrow. The reception is from 5-8 pm. I have five paintings in the show and there are some very interesting pieces including sculptures by Susan Schenk and Bill Herbert. This is going to be a fun show! It runs through September.
